Welcome to the first Hawke’s Bay Young Photographer of the Year Award
Open only to pupils up to year 8 (13 years).

The competition has been divided into three categories as follows:

  • People & Portrait
  • Landscape & Environment
  • Creative and Illustrative

A 1st, 2nd and 3rd placing will be awarded in each of the three
categories. An overall award (HBYPOTY) will be given to the best portfolio of two or more images. An award will also go to the school of the year.  The over all trophy award will be judged and sponsored by Richard Wood, New Zealand’s Professional Photographer of the Year.

All entries plus awarded images will be on display at Hereworth School, Saturday 3rd December from 3.00pm – 6.00pm and on Sunday 4th December from 11.00am – 3.00pm. This will be open to the public and we encourage you to come and view what students from around Hawke’s Bay have created.

A prize giving and public judge off of the finalists will be conducted at Hereworth School Saturday 3rd December at 3.00pm. We encourage you to attend this event!
